PART I  
1. SEWING MACHINE FUNDAMENTALS
History and generation of Sewing Machine, various t ypes and sizes of sewing machine, important parts of sewing machine and thei r functions, Faulty working and remedies.
2. KNOWLEDGE OF TAILORING AND EMBROIDERY TOOLS

Equipments and accessories used for tailoring and e mbroidery - Such as: Measuring tape, cutting scissors. Tailors square, N eedles tracing wheel, Thimble and embroidery frames.
3. MATERIALS 
Clothes and their characteristics, nature and uses - Such as: Cotton, Linen, Rayon, Synthetic, Silk, Woollen for various materia ls.
4. HAND STITCHES USED FOR TAILORING AND EMBROIDERY
Various kinds of hand stitches such as: Tacking, Ru nning, Hemming, Back stitch. Buttonhole. Stem stitch, Herringbone stitch , Laizy daisy, Shadow stitch. Chain stitch, Long and Short stitch and Sat in stitch.
5. TECHNICAL TERMS

Technical terms used in Tailoring: - Inlay Turning, Lapels, Bridle, Fly, Flycatch, Fork, Jetting, Mercerised, Sizing, Selved ge, Dungree, Alterations. Depth of Seye, Lace, Truebias, Plaid, Crown and Loc king.
6. OPENING AND FASTENINGS
Different types of opening and fastenings such as:- Facing, Binding, Hooks and eyes. Buttons and Buttonhole, Press button and Edge finishes.
7. PLEATS AND GATHERINGS
Types of pleats and gatherings such as: - knife ple at. Inverted pleat, Box pleat & Decorative gatherings (Honey combing and sm oking)
8. MEASUREMENTS
Process of taking measurements for all kinds of gar ments and their method of application – Average measurements for different ag es – Theory of Eight Heads. 9. PREPARING AND FINISHING
Different kinds of transferring methods in fabrics (Carbon method, Pouncing method and Direct method). Washing and Ironing of e mbroidery art icles
10. KNITTING AND CROCHET 
Basic knitting such as Casting on, Casting off, kni t, Pearl, Decreasing and increasing, knitted patterns, Basic stitches for Cr ochet work: Chain, Single, Double, Trible.
